Pub Talk: Captain Thomayer's river pilot tales and family history

Join us for a pub talk at Gorges Beer Co. on Monday, June 16, 2025 at 6pm.

Captain Thomas N. Thomayer is a retired Columbia River Pilot and the grandson of Captain Lewis Scott Russell Sr. founder of Tidewater Barge Lines. Capt. Thomayer will present about his family and his career in river transportation on the Willamette, Columbia and Snake Rivers. The talk will last for approximately 1 hour and includes lots of photos. We request that attendees contribute a suggested donation of $5 per person to benefit the museum.

Our live artist for this event will be painter Meghan Smyth. We’ll draw a raffle benefiting the museum at the conclusion of the pub talk. Win fun prizes, including Meghan’s piece! Do not need to be present to win.
